Dr McQuillan Steroid Injections Clinic

Who needs a steroid injection?

One of the most common reasons to have a steroid injection is to relieve pain.  Pain in the joints is commonly caused by an inflammatory process.  Steroid injections such as cortisone help to calm down inflammation in the joint, breaking the incessant cycle of provoking the source of the joint pain.  This allows you to function and move better.  With less pain dragging you down, you may be able to exercise and stretch more effectively, ensuring the issue does not return.

Ideally steroid injections should be used alongside a rehabilitation programme, preferably with a Physiotherapist to improve your function, manage your pain and ultimately get back to full fitness.
